Pumpkins!

It is getting close to Halloween, and I LOVE Halloween. I brought out my boo slipper socks at work today (I get cold at work, so I wear slipper socks in my office). Yesterday, Adam and I carved two of our pumpkins that we got from the pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago. It was the first time that we have carved pumpkins together and it was a lot of fun. As you can see our first one was the regular jack o'lantern. There really was no question about what our second one was going to be - KU!
I have all of the pumpkin seeds sitting out drying and am going to bake them tonight. I haven't had baked pumpkin seeds in a while either, so I am getting pretty excited. I just hope that they are as good as I remember them being, because it took forever to get them cleaned off.

Baby Bootees

As I mentioned yesterday, I made some baby bootees for my new niece Brooklyn. They are made with the same yarn that I made her baby blanket, so they match.

I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino yarn on size 3 needles. The pattern is Saartje's bootees.

They are really easy to knit up. I think that I knitted the straps too tightly because they weren't long enough to cross over as the pattern calls for, so I modified it when I was finishing them up. I still think they turned out really cute.

And again, just because she is so damn cute, I have included another picture of Brooklyn.

New Knitting Stuff

I realized that I never posted the knitting stuff that I got for my anniversary present this year. I love it when it arrives and you have all sorts of new things to play with; its like Christmas :)

I got some new blocking mats and pins,
These are a life saver. They are SOOOO much easier to use than towels :) I have already used them to block baby Brooklyn's baby blanket.
Even though that picture was taken before the blocking happened. I realized after I shipped it to KC that I forgot to take a final picture. But that's okay, I'll be home soon and can take a picture of it with Brooklyn - even better.

I also got some new yarn.I have some ideas on what to do with this yarn, but you are just going to have to wait and find out.

I am working on some baby booties for Brooklyn that are actually really fast knits. I started them today (I took that day off from work) and am almost done with the first one and should have the second one done by tonight. The pattern allows for different sizes so that I can make multiple pairs so that they can grow with her :) I'll hopefully be able to post some pictures of them tomorrow.

And just because she is so cute, I'll throw in another picture of baby Brooklyn!

Welcome Baby Brooklyn Anne Buckneberg!!

Our niece is here!! She arrived today at 10:14 am CT weighing in at 7 lbs. 8 oz and is 19 inches long!! Both mom and baby are doing great (although both are tired :) )

I have some pictures to post right now, but I will be posting more as I get them. Aidan is going to be meeting his younger sister here pretty soon, and you know those are going to be some pictures that we have to have. I hope that your day is going well, and if it isn't I hope that these bring a smile to your face.

Knitting on HBO?

So word on the street (the knitting street that is) is that Ellen Page is going to write a comedy series for HBO called "Stitch 'N Bitch." The question is if it is going to be a friend or a foe towards knitters. We will have to wait and see.
