We went to see Harry Potter yesterday..It was awesome!
I wasn't sure how I felt about them splitting the last book into two movies, but it was such a good idea. This way they are able to stick closely to the book unlike the last couple of movies; there is just too much to fit into 2 1/2 hours, this way they don't have to try.
This really, is just a set up movie for the final battle, showdown, movie that is coming in July!!!! I might just wait in line for the midnight show for that one :)
Later today: posting of the top 5 happy things from last week - stay tuned.

Harry Potter, Harry Potter, Harry Potter
Even though I will not be going today to see the first of the final Harry Potter movies, I thought it only appropriate to post about it today (it's like it's birthday!). I will be dragging taking Adam to see it on Sunday, I'll post my thoughts afterwards.
I'm SO excited for these movies. I love the books, they are of course better than the movies, but I love seeing them acted out and seeing the characters come to life. Who else is excited!!!???

Another day, another hat
I have finished Brooklyn's winter hat! I am very excited by how it turned out.
Of course, the best way to show you a hat is to have a model, but since Brooklyn isn't here...enter Harold.
(No Harold's were hurt in the taking of this pictures)

5 Happy Things
As I have grown up I find myself obsessed with the idea of happiness. Happy at home, happy at work, happy with friends, happy with myself. I have put the idea of happiness as the goal in life, the thing to which to strive. I am beginning to think that the idea of happiness has been confused with the idea of perfection. When I ask if I am happy with something - I find myself focused on the things that aren't exactly as I want them, or the things that went wrong. It makes for a rather bleak look at life really, and it makes the idea of happiness seem unachievable.
I have struggled with this for a long time and feel like I am finally getting somewhere. I had created this world in which to be happy meant x, y and z and anything less was almost like failure and that I had to keep working. It has finally dawned on me that I am happy with where I am in life, even if it isn't where I had planned to be at this point. I think the biggest life lesson that I have learned so far is that nothing is as you plan it. If i had stuck to my plan, the biggest change is that I wouldn't be married, and that has been the one thing that has made me the happiest. I am happy with where I am, with where I can go from here and where it looks like, at this point, I am going.
I have focused too long on the possibilities and the next step in life, so I have decided to slow down a little and try to focus on the things in my life that make me happy, big or small, right now. With that, I am going to start posting every Monday (a day late this week - but oh well, it got done) 5 things that have made me happy over the past week.
So, without further ado...
1) TEA POTS!!!!
We were out running errands and ran into Pier 1 to see what they had for fall decorations and came across this awesome tea pot and cup set. So, of course it had to be added to my teapot collection.
I was literally skipping (to Adam's embarrassment) after we bought it! The cups even have a strainer :)
2) Sherlock Holmes.
While I have yet to actually read a Sherlock Holmes book, (something that will be rectified soon) Adam and I have been watching the PBS version of Holmes. IT IS AWESOME!!! Both of us are still in denial that there were only three episodes made for season one and that we have to wait to find out what happens. In the mean time we are just re-watching the three episodes. I've seen the third on three times now - in one week.
3) Paintings that we can both agree on.
While it doesn't look like much, this painting is a huge success. Adam and I have been looking for something to go over our TV in the living room for over a year now. One of us will like something, but the other one isn't sold. It has been a thing. This past weekend, we finally found something that we both agreed would work! and it was on sale!! Now we just have to hang it. We'll see how long that takes.
4) Rice Krispies Treats
I have never made rice krispies treats before...but had a craving so I made them this weekend. I forgot just how much I love these.
5) Finally, cleaning the Harold's teeth.
I know that this one seems a little strange, but it is hilarious how much he loves getting his teeth brushed - especially if you know how much he HATES getting his ears cleaned, which I think is less invasive; but what to I know, I'm not a dog.

The thing that you are missing in these pictures is that it has become a little difficult to brush his teeth because he keeps trying to lick the tooth brush.
I have tried to get Adam to join in the fun. Hopefully, with a little more persuasion (pun intended) I will get him to let me post 5 things that made him happy as well... we'll see.

New Knitting Projects
I am working on hats and mittens for the little ones in my life right now. I finished the first one last night...and luckily I had a model at hand.

He wasn't too happy about me waking him up to model, but he was a good pup and humored me.
It was a really fun hat to knit actually, so I have decided to make another one.
I just hope that it fits Aidan's head - if not I'll make another one with a few more repeats so that it does.

The pattern is Zaggity, which I found on ravelry. I used one skein of Rowan wool cotton. I really like this yarn for kid knits because it is machine washable - even if it can't go in the dryer.
Since I had a new model for my knitting, I thought that I would post about a project that I finished a while back. It is one that I created myself, so don't ask me for the pattern, I don't have one. I used a basic knit pattern from Vogue Knitting and then created the scarf dimensions.

I think that Harold's fur highlights the color very nicely :)

I was going to sell it, but I am thinking that I am actually going to give it to a charity that sends care packages to orphans when they are a Freshmen in college around valentines day.

Yarn, Yarn
Who couldn't use a picture of yarn on a Wednesday afternoon.
If only I could get my hands on some of that yarn.
